Waltham Public Schools is fortunate to offer a variety of summer programs for its students. Please note, some programs are geared towards specific grade levels, student needs, and/or teacher referral.

Credit Recovery

Waltham High School's Credit Recovery Program offers standard-level courses designed to allow students to make up classes or review work not successfully completed or proved difficult during the year.

The STEP Up program provides students with the opportunity to participate in an engaging academic experience while building relationships with classmates and teachers. Lunches and limited transportation will be provided.

ELL Enrichment

The ELL Enrichment programs support English Language development for students at entering and emerging levels. Curriculum is designed to promote academic language for the purposes of reading, writing, and conversing. Lunches and limited transportation provided.

Students are recommended by their classroom teacher or ESL teacher, based on academic need and WIDA ACCESS scores. If you have a question about your student's eligibility, reach out to their classroom teacher.

Title One Math & Literacy

The Title One Math & Literacy program aims to minimize summer loss in the areas of literacy & math and review concepts in skills from the previous school year for elementary students. Components of art, drama, science, and physical education are offered as part of the program. Lunches and limited transportation available.

Waltham Public School's Extended School Year services are designed to support eligible students with disabilities who demonstrated regression in previously mastered skills that are included on students' Individual Education Programs (IEPs). Instruction in academics, communication, socialization, and related services are provided in a variety of programs that are designed to meet students' needs. Lunches and transportation available.

Registration Process
Extended School Year services are only available to students on IEPs and are discussed at annual IEP Team meetings. If your child qualifies, please reach out to their special education liaison.

Rock Band Camp
Middle & High School

Rock Band camp is offered to students with prior playing experience on guitar, drums, keyboards, bass, horns, and vocals. This music camp strives to offer a variety of musical genres to facilitate student development. Students will be challenged to learn new songs and work on creativity, stage presence, and performance technique. After auditioning, students will be placed in an appropriate group. A concert will be held at the end of the summer session at the McDevitt Middle School for students to perform all the songs that they have learned in camp.

This program is open to students in Grades 3 - 5 who were in Orchestra in the 2022-2023 school year. It will provide students with practice with their instruments as well as new songs  and material to play over the summer.

Robotics Camp

This program is open to Waltham Public School students in Grades 6 - 8. Over the course of the program, students will:

● Learn how to design and program LEGO EV3 robots
● Learn about different careers that you can pursue in robotics and computer programming
● Realize that you can write a computer program!
● Learn how to use new technologies and be introduced to the field of robotics
● Learn skills to help you prepare for a career in science/technology
● Learn how to problem-solve and teach your robot
● Work together with your friends and peers to solve problems
