Principal's Corner

Principal’s Message
August 26, 2025
Dear MacArthur Families,
Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year! We are eager to welcome your family to the new school year and begin a positive year of partnership in support of your child(ren)’s learning. MacArthur School is committed to being a nourishing learning community where students feel loved, challenged, supported, and valued each day. We aim to increase students’ sense of belonging, ownership of their learning, and willingness to take risks by providing engaging learning opportunities that enrich their love of learning. This vision incorporates an intense belief about the importance of building strong connections with our students and helping to celebrate who they are as individuals. These first days of school are focused on meeting your children, building relationships with them, developing routines, and establishing a positive learning community that will help your child(ren) thrive in the year ahead.
Each morning during the announcements, students are encouraged to Be Kind, Be Respectful, Be Ready to Learn, Be Yourself, and Be a Leader. We discuss these core values with our students to emphasize the importance of positive citizenship of all MacArthur community members and helping make MacArthur the Best Place to Learn for all of our students. We recognize students who show these values in action each week with our Eagle Excellence stickers. This collaborative commitment to helping our students learn each day highlights the values we aim to instill during their elementary school experience.
Throughout each academic year, we utilize our robust and diverse curricular resources to provide students with well-rounded and engaging educational experiences. This includes providing students with the opportunities to build their stamina for learning each day. We promote a growth mindset, encouraging students to take academic risks, grow as problem solvers, and build their understanding of the fact that success begins with effort.
Over the next several days, you will be receiving a variety of reading material related to your child(ren)’s return to school, including this letter. Thank you for taking the time to read through these materials and make a plan to become active partners within our school community. We encourage you to become involved in our school community by joining our dedicated PTO or School Council, attending our monthly Principals’ Forums, or volunteering in the library.
Please read through the remainder of this welcome letter for school related logistics, as well as to learn more about opportunities for how you can actively participate within our learning community.
