The Great Kindness Challenge

Northeast will be participating in The Great Kindness Challenge next week. The week will begin with All School Meeting led by the Fifth Grade Ambassadors. Each day will have a theme. We will start each morning having a kindness quote of the day during the morning announcements.  Additionally, we are going to have recess “kindness stations” that will give children the opportunity to create a special something as an act of kindness.

Another fun activity is a Door Decorating contest! Students and classroom teachers will come up with a catchy kindness saying (examples could be the daily themes) and decorate their classroom doors!  There will be a PreK-1 winner, a 2-3 winner and a 4-5 winner.  The class winners will get a movie/popcorn party!

On Friday, we will gather again at 8:50 in the gym to celebrate our challenge. We ask all students to wear red or pink so we can create a huge heart!  We’ll take a picture as a remembrance that kindness really is a “work of heart.”  We will also announce the door contest winners.

The goal of the week is for students to see how acts of kindness affect them-both as the giver and the receiver.  We hope that they will continue these actions long after the week ends!
