For the past 11 years, Mrs. Valerie Alfeo has taught a variety of Math courses at Natick High School, one of which was AP Statistics. During her tenure, she was selected to pilot the online math program they now currently utilize, as well as work closely with the middle school math department to ensure parity with the 8th and 9th grade Algebra classes, and as a byproduct of this relationship, became proficient in the middle school curriculum. Mrs. Alfeo successfully completed her administrative program through EDCO's Educational Leadership Institute, accredited by Endicott College, earning a Master of Education in Organizational Management. Prior to Natick, she attended Providence College, where she received both her undergrad and graduate degrees. Mrs. Alfeo is a proud graduate of Waltham High, Class of 1999.
While at Natick High, Mrs. Alfeo had the unique opportunity to teach in not only a brand new facility, but also in a 1:1 environment. Having gone through the complex processes of the construction of a new school simultaneously with a laptop rollout, we believe that her experiences with the transition to a new building will allow her to serve not only as a support to the student body, but to the staff as well.
In addition to her classroom responsibilities, Mrs. Alfeo was not only a coach, advisor to both Student Council and several classes, and a mentor, she was also a vital member of the Data Team where she collaborated with other members to analyze SAT, ACT, MCAS, AP and other relevant data for the school’s benefit, including a focus on subgroups. Mrs. Alfeo is also one of the walk chairs for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention - Greater Boston Chapter, where she coordinates logistics and secures various donations for the chapter’s annual Out of the Darkness Community Walk. When she is not working or volunteering, you can find her dancing at the Studio of Creative Movement, baking delicious goodies, and spending time with family and friends.
We are excited to welcome Mrs. Alfeo to Waltham and to the WPS team of educators!
