Waltham Public Schools: 2019 Accountability and MCAS 2.0 Results
Celebrating Promising Outcomes and Addressing Inequities for All Waltham Students.
Waltham, MA, [September 24, 2019]- Waltham Public Schools is pleased to share promising results for all students in our schools based on the 2019 MCAS and Massachusetts Accountability System, the results of which were made public this morning.
Over the past several years, the state of Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has implemented major changes to the state’s school and district accountability system in response to the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), emphasizing the importance of meeting the needs of all groups of students and specifically measuring and holding districts accountable for the performance of English Learners, students from diverse racial and cultural backgrounds, students with special needs, and students from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds, based on multiple indicators of student experience and performance.
