Nwosu grew up in the Dominican Republic and came to the United States when she was ten years old.
Growing up in the Dominican Republic, Principal Nwosu's native language is Spanish. When first coming to the U.S., Nwosu started her education in a bilingual program in the Boston Public Schools. Rochelle Nwosu has experience teaching English as a Second Language, working in central office, and working as the Director of Operations at the Mildred Avenue School in Mattapan.
Through her personal and professional experiences, including graduating from an exam school in Boston and from the prestigious Smith College, Nwosu has learned the value of understanding and speaking more than one language. She believes it is important for students to be bilingual, as it opens doors to more opportunities. As the new principal for the Dual Language School, she hopes to collaborate with teachers and other adults and stakeholders to grow and better support the school. She was kindly greeted by the teachers and students at the school in Spanish, which reminded her of her roots. The Dual Language School is very close to Nwosu’s heart as she was a part of the program herself. She is excited to be part of the Waltham community.
Please join us in welcoming Rochelle Nwosu to her new position in Waltham!
