Educational Plan for the New or Renovated Waltham High School

The Waltham Public Schools is excited to release the first draft of the educational plan for a new or renovated high school. This plan was written in collaboration with community members, teacher leaders, content Directors and central office leaders.  The education plan has the following signature components including a focus on:

  • Project-Based Learning
  • 21st Century Skills
  • An interdisciplinary approach with four major clusters (STEM, Humanities, Fine and Performing Arts, and Health, PE and Athletics)
  • Embedded ESL and special education supports embedded within each cluster
  • Robust Career, Vocational, Technical Education (CVTE) Programming
  • New STEM pathways including biotechnology, computer science engineering, robotics and new and green renewable energy
  • Library as the major hub of the school
  • A Newcomers Academy
  • Technology
  • Maintaining A strong commitment to the arts
