Custodians: Unsung Heroes in the Waltham Public Schools

Mr. Edward Biddy, Waltham High School Head Custodian

Article Written by Tammi Wang, WHS class of 2020

Waltham Public Schools custodians are busy throughout the school year and work tirelessly during the summer months to keep our schools clean.“There is a lot of work that goes into keeping our schools this way” says Maguesse Jean Baptiste, a custodian at Kennedy Middle School. Mr. Baptiste showed me what goes on during the summer months to reshape the school for the new school year. Tasks such as washing all the desks and chairs, cleaning all the windows and vents, and finishing the floors are all important parts of the cleaning process.

Mr. Edward Biddy has 32 years of experience working for Waltham Public Schools and oversees the Waltham High School custodian team. In a recent conversation, he shared the importance of respect for our school communities as integral to creating a positive school culture. His overarching goal is to ensure a clean environment for the students and staff at Waltham High School.

Waltham Public Schools custodians take pride in cleaning and getting the school ready for the school year. Let’s make an effort to help the custodians keep our schools clean all year round!

Thank you to our custodians who work incredibly hard during the school year and in the heat of the summer months to ensure our schools are safe, clean, and ready for students and staff!
