For the past two years, MacArthur has been recycling our milk cartons. Instead of simply tossing them in the trash, MacArthur student's empty their milk and orange juice cartons and place them in a special container to be recycled. This recycling program, which MacArthur piloted, has proved so successful that it is now in place througout Waltham's elementary schools. We got to wondering... how many containers do we recycle anyway? The answer surprised us.
Three groups of fifth graders took our daily totals for beverage use, calculated our yearly numbers, and represented it graphically. We hope you'll agree that recycling matters at MacArthur!
