As an extension of our school day, students in grades 6-8 will be engaged in hands on STEM/STEAM activities and problem solving using the eight Science and Engineering Practices. Students will have the opportunity to use 3D printers, fly drones, design hydroponics systems, invent wearable technology, and use electronics.
It meets each Tuesday and Thursday starting October 8 in Mr. Kiel's room.

STEM Program Participation Forms:
An after-school program for students in grades 6-8 that meets every Thursday at Brandeis University. A bus will pick up students and transport them to the Brandeis campus to help/tutor students. This is a fun time for the students to work together with team building activities, have a snack, and also work for an hour with an individual mentor. A great program for students who might be shy or lack confidence in learning or socializing. A permission slip is required and it is expected that students will bring homework.

The Drama Program at Kennedy offers performance opportunities after school in the Fall Play and the Spring Musical for all students grades 6-8. The Fall Play typically has auditions the first week of school, and the Spring Musical auditions are usually later on in December. Shows and Auditions are announced via morning announcements and on the website - so keep your eyes and ears pealed! Opportunities to work behind the scenes in Stage Crew come up a few weeks before each performance, and those are also announced on the website and morning announcements.

Girls Writing Club is for any girl in Grades 6-8 who is interested in writing. It meets each Tuesday from 2:40 to 3:25 starting in October. Students will be able to take the late bus home. There are snacks at this club, parents should let Ms. Myers know of any allergies.

Come join the History Club! History is the story of us; the story of human civilization and all the dramatic changes that have occurred over thousands of years. There will be stories of action, adventure, and excitement that bring the past alive. We will also be exploring potential adventures in Experimental Archaeology - a field of study that attempts to generate and test archaeological hypotheses by replicating or trying to replicate ancient cultures' everyday tools.
Come with us on this adventure as we explore the greatness of empires.
Our first meeting will be Monday, October 7 and then every other Monday until Christmas Break, or unless otherwise notified.
Math Olympiads is for any student grades 6-8 who is interested in competing in rigorous math competition. Math Olympiad meets every Tuesday after school from 2:35 to 3:30 and students can take the late bus home. See attached document for the schedule. Math_Olympiads.pdf

Middle School Honors String Ensemble is for students in Grades 6-8. It meets every Tuesday from 2:50-4:20 (September -May) and requires that students find their own transportation home. Experience in playing violin, viola, cello, and bass at audition required level as well as a string instrument and music.

Middle School Jazz Band is for students in grades 6-8. It meets every Tuesdays, in room 113 from 3:00 - 4:30. Students are required to arrange their own transportation home. Auditions will be on Wednesday, September 26 at the High School in room 103 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM.

NJHS is for students in Grade 8. NJHS meets once a month on a Thursday with dates to be determined. There will be an informational meeting in the Fall and an application is required. Students will be able to take the bus home at the end of each meeting.

The Morning Relaxation Group will include listening to relaxing music, and using guided meditation that focuses on 'mindful breathing, noticing our thoughts, and setting an intention for a positive day. By calming ourselves, we are setting ourselves up to focus, and control our bodies and mind!
