All K-5 students recently participated in the Fitzgerald PTO’s “Protect your pumpkin” stem activity. Each class was provided with materials to create a structure that would protect their pumpkin when dropped off a fire truck at FitzGerald School. Two NASA employees talked to the students virtually about basic physics and vehicular safety to help them brainstorm ideas on how to protect their pumpkins. We’re happy to report that many of the pumpkins were well protected and survived the drop. Students and teachers had a smashing time watching their pumpkins drop from the firetruck!
Thank you to the Fitzgerald PTO who sponsored the pumpkin drop for students in collaboration with the Waltham Cultural Council and Waltham Fire Department.
