Title I Program
Program Development Manager
Title I is the part of No Child Left Behind (NCLB) that supports programs in schools and school districts to improve the learning of children from low-income families. The U.S. Department of Education provides federal Title I funds to states to give to school districts based on the number of children from low-income families in each district.
The Title I education program offers academic support in language arts and mathematics in three Waltham elementary schools: the Plympton School, the Stanley School, and the Whittemore School. Services are provided in the classroom as well as through before and after school programs and extended year academic programs. Community outreach includes coordination of efforts with Even Start, school health services, the Waltham Public Library, Healthy Waltham, the Waltham Partnership for Youth.
