Parents Advisory Council
The Waltham Special Education Parents Advisory Council is a cross-functional team comprised of parents, educators and school administrators. The group’s function is to inform and empower parents whose children have special education needs as well as listen and identify the needs of our children’s educators and administrators. The group meets once a month to discuss educational needs, identify resources and design programs.
Membership is open to individuals who have a vested interest in special education in the city of Waltham.

Research in Autism Spectrum Disorders: Implications for Intervention ![]()
A free daylong conference, to be held on November 18, 2011 at the Westin Hotel in Waltham, highlights current research at the Shriver Center by leading experts in autism spectrum disorders. It will include presentations on development and genetics; visual perception and visual attention; communication and auditory learning; food selectivity; and aspects of intervention for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders.
The conference is intended for parents, clinicians, researchers and school personnel, and is free to all attendees, but advanced registration is required and space is limited.
