In the spirit of giving and the chilly winter season please consider joining with the McDevitt PTO by donating a new pair of gloves/mittens, hat or socks, children or adult sizes that will be donated to a local woman and children shelter. Navy blue collection bins will be located at McDevitt. Please feel free to send them in with your student or drop them off. The collection will go into December 23rd.
On Monday, November 28th McDevitt will begin collections for our annual Holiday Gift Drive to support Greater Waltham’s Association for Retarded Citizens (GWArc). GWArc's mission is to serve children, adolescents and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families in our community. We are in our 10th year teaming up with the program. We use the money donated by McDevitt students to purchase much needed supplies for their two day-workshop programs. The students that deliver these goodies spend the day singing holiday songs and interacting with the consumers. To date, we have raised almost $15,000. Our funds have purchased cooking and art supplies and much more.
Each homeroom will compete to bring in the most donations. The winning homeroom will join us in a gift wrapping party before we deliver the items to GWARC’s two workshops.
Please consider donating to this wonderful program to help members of our own community. Remember every penny counts!
