FitzGerald’s All School Assembly on Tuesday was full of excitement! It kicked off with the core value conversation on “respect”, followed by the “swearing in” of the fifth grade Safety Squad, the introduction of the fourth grade Student Council, and the “sliming” prize from the Summer Reading Challenge.
The 5th grade Safety Squad was sworn in by Officer Frassica. These students will maintain safety by modeling positive and respectful behavior throughout the school as they monitor the hallways at arrival and dismissal times.
The 4th grade Student Council members were introduced to the school. The Student Council is a student driven organization that meets as a group during the school day to brainstorm ideas for the sub-committees they want to focus on during the year. Each year the 4th grade Student Council has 3 sub-committees. Last year the sub-committees consisted of the School Culture Committee, the Community Committee, and the Recess Committee. Each committee comes up with a project they want to focus on, and they present their ideas to administration for permission to move forward with their projects. We can’t wait to see what the 4th grade Student Council focuses on this year!
Five lucky students were chosen at random and had the honor of pouring slime on Mrs. Santillo! After the students slimed Mrs. Santillo, we realized that there was still a lot of slime. Two of our staff members made sure to use all of the slime up to complete the sliming process.
