Action Items - FY12 

The district Instructional Technology equipment budget for 2011-2012 was funded for $50,000.  The district is in the process of preparing a bid for an interactive LCD projector to be installed in middle school classrooms, beginning with the math classrooms.

Capital Improvement Funds for 2011-2012 was funded for $75,000 to replace a computer lab at Northeast Elementary School, Plympton Elementary School and al math and some science classrooms.

Title 1 ARRA funded the following projects that are currently being installed in the Title 1 elementary schools:

Plympton Elementary School - ENO boards with ShortThrow LCD projectors with new computers in 15 classrooms.  ELMO document cameras in 3 classrooms.

Stanley Elementary School - ENO boards with ShortThrow LCD projectors and ELMO document cameras with new computers in 17 classrooms.

Whittemore Elementary School - ENO boards and ELMO document cameras in 21 classrooms.

Action Items - FY11

A Proposal ARRA IDEA Funds, submitted to and approved by the school committee, funded the following projects.  Purchases were made in June, 2010 and projects are being implemented in Fall 2011:

Stanley Elementary School

  • Replace a lab of 25 computers
  • Add netbook to support students using technology within the curriculum
    • Asus eee PC with Windows 7 Professional, Sophos, Deepfreeze and CALS - quantity 48
    • Earthwalk Min-Max 24 base model cart with high efficiency charging - quantity 2
  • Install wireless access throughout the school
    • Asus eee PC with Windows 7 Professional, Sophos, Deepfreeze and CALS - quantity 2
  • Install wireless access throughout the school

Kennedy Middle School

  • Replace a lab of 25 computers
  • Add netbook carts to support students using Kurzweil
    • Asus eee PC with Windows 7 Professional, Sophos, Deepfreeze and CALS - quantity 40
    • Earthwalk Min-Max 24 base model cart with high efficiency charging - quantity 2
  • Install wireless access throughout the school (Aruba access points and licenses and HP Switches)

McDevitt Middle School

  • Replace a lab of 25 computers
  • Add netbook carts to support students using Kurzweil

  • Replace an English computer lab with a netbook cart.
    • Asus eee PC with Windows 7 Professional, Sophos, Deepfreeze and CALS - quantity 25
    • Earthwalk Min-Max 24 base model cart with high efficiency charging - quantity 1
    • Complete the installation of wireless access throughout the school.
  • Add a History Social Sciences "computer lab" with a netbook cart.
    • Asus eee PC with Windows 7 Professional, Sophos, Deepfreeze and CALS - quantity 25
    • Earthwalk Min-Max 24 base model cart with high efficiency charging - quantity 1
    • Complete the installation of wireless access throughout the school.

The district Instructional Technology equipment budget for 2010-2011 was partially funded ($22,656).  The following purchases are underway (Fall 2010).

  • 12 LCD projectors  (with carts and extension cables) for high school (to complete all classrooms)
  • 5 LCD projectors (with carts and extension cables)  for Kennedy (to be shared by classroom teachers)
  • 5 LCD projectors (with carts and extension cables) for McDevitt (to be shared by classroom teachers)

note: the lack of funding necessary to support LCD projectors installed in classrooms in the middle schools has altered the district objective.  Instead we will provide 5 LCD projectors to middle schools to share throughout the building.
