Welcome to T. R. Plympton

"Living and Learning Together"

 Mission Statement

Students, parents and staff unite in a diverse community that values and promotes mutual respect, unconditional acceptance, the pursuit of academic excellence, professional motivation, cooperative contribution and life-long learning in a safe and secure environment.

Greetings Plympton Families,

It is hard to believe the school year is coming to an end! Students and staff have worked very hard to have meaningful, successful learning experiences. Our generous PTO provided many visiting artist programs and social events enjoyed by all. Thanks to the Multi Cultural Committee, our school traveled to Africa through books, lessons, song and dance. Students should  be very proud of their community outreach this year with donations to Coaches Across Continents and Boston Strong-One Fund. A new initiative this year, BOKS, provided students with the opportunity to participate in a before school physical activity program and learn about nutrition and healthy eating habits. The program was a huge success due to the efforts of our parent coordinator and parent/staff volunteer coaches.

We wish our fifth grade students all the best as they complete their elementary career and prepare to transition to middle school--we know they will do great! Incoming kindergarten students will visit the school this month and we welcome them as they begin their elementary years!

CONGRATULATIONS to Jeanne Lenza who has been named the state Teacher of the Year in the field of social studies (elementary level) by the DESE and is the recipient of the Guilder Lehrman award-- this is a great accomplishment and Jeanne will be honored at the State House in Boston on June 13th and will be given a monetary award and a commensurate amount in grant materials from the Guilder Lehrman foundation will be donated to the Plympton Library.  We are very excited for  Jeanne and her accomplishment as she has done Waltham Public Schools, Plympton Elementary and herself very proud!!

As previously announced, Mrs. Hurwitz is retiring this year after many years of dedicated service to Waltham Public Schools, most of them at Plympton. Students, staff and parents who experienced a school year with her, knew she worked exceptionally hard and it was their responsibility to match that energy and enthusiasm. Her tireless attempt to motivate and inspire all of the students was truly a gift.  I have been fortunate to work with Mrs. Hurwitz for over twenty years, first as a colleague teaching grade five and most recently as  an administrator. It has been a great professional experience and I wish her all the best for a happy, healthy retirement!

Mr. Alex Audette has been appointed the Plympton Assistant Principal. We welcome his visit  to students and staff on June 4th and he will be introduced to parents/guardians at the PTO Board meeting that evening. Mr. Audette officially begins July 1st.

We continue to encourage and practice the Plympton Pride values: Positive Attitude, Responsibility, Inclusion, Determination and Etiquette.

 Mrs. Taddeo and Mrs. Hurwitz
