 Mission Statement

Students, parents and staff unite in a diverse community that values and promotes mutual respect, unconditional acceptance, the pursuit of academic excellence, professional motivation, cooperative contribution and life-long learning in a safe and secure environment.

Our Plympton PRIDE values focus on Positive attitude, Responsibility, Including others, Determination and  Etiquette and will be emphasized throughout the year.

February Memo

PARCC Planning!-Waltham has made the decision to have our students (grades 3-5) take the PARCC test this year in English Language Arts and Mathematics. Grade 5 students will continue to take the Science MCAS test. An information letter and test schedule was sent home last week. We will continue to send reminders of the test schedule as these dates approach. Testing window begins April 26 and spans through May 25, 2016.

Attendance & Tardiness – As we prepare students these statewide tests, it reminds us that we must also recognize the importance of being both in school and on time.  Classroom learning begins at 8:42 am each day and it is important that students attend school regularly and on time.

Kindergarten Registration--Fall 2016-Registration is scheduled at Plympton for February 2nd at 6:00pm in the cafeteria Parents/guardians of students eligible to attend kindergarten (turning 5 before September 1, 2016) should bring all necessary information (i.e. birth certificate, proof of residence etc.) with them this evening.  For more info: http://www.walthampublicschools.org/pic.cfm

Cancellation of school due to snow or bad weather: In the event school is cancelled or delayed, you should expect to receive a phone call from the Superintendent informing you of his decision. If you do not receive the regular blackboard connect call I make when there is an early dismissal, please let our secretary Mrs. Brophy know and we will verify that we have the correct phone number in our system. Information about no school and/or delays can also be found on the Waltham Public School website as well as by checking local radio and television announcements. Also, please remember that if your child attends the Champion afterschool program and there is no school, there is no Champions program.

Outdoor Recess

The cold weather is arriving and students should come dressed appropriately as we try to have outdoor recess as often as possible. The decision is made daily according to Child Care Weather Watch Chart (combination of temperature and wind chill  factor).

Mrs. Taddeo & Mr. Audette ******************************************************************************

Our Plympton Pride value focus continues to be determination--don't give up, try your best, make a plan and follow it, beieve in yourself. In addition, we continue to watch for students demonstrating positive attitude, responsibility and including others.

RTN Helps Plympton Students Learn to Save

Plympton Elementary has partnered with RTN Federal Credit Union to bring the lesson of saving to students. The Cents-ible Savers Club is a youth savings plan designed to help students understand the concept of savings and establish their own personal account. Participating in the Club can help your child develop healthy financial habits to last a lifetime.

Students interested in making a deposit or opening a Cents-ible Savers Club account can see the Credit Union representative on any of the scheduled days. Plympton visits are typically the first and third Tuesday of the month. There is a minimum deposit of $1 at the school. You can also visit one of our Credit Union branches, including our main branch located at 600 Main Street in Waltham.

For additional information on the Cents-ible Savers Club, please contact our Education and Financial Literacy Coordinator, Kerri McLaughlin, CCUCF, at kmclaughlin@rtn.org or 781-736-9962.
