Northeast Walks!
Get your walking shoes ready!
Dear Northeast Families,
It is time for Northeast Walks! This is the eighth year of our walking program and there will be many opportunities for your child(ren) to walk at Northeast. We will be walking for the first full week in October. Our Walking Wednesdays will begin on October 3rd and continue through December 19th (or until the weather and sidewalk conditions become poor). We will have several special walks in during the winter months, weather permitting and will also have our special May Northeast Walks! this spring. In addition, students in Grades 4 and 5 will have the chance to go walking with me during lunch and recess, around the Northeast neighborhood. Finally, we will have a fall and spring walking challenge for our students who are walkers.
There are two ways to participate in Walking Wednesday activities: (1) students can walk from Our Lady’s Church (we meet at 8:00 a.m.) or from the corner of Doty and Circle Streets (we meet at 8:10 a.m.) or (2) students who arrive on buses can walk from the corner of Abbott Rd. and Warwick Ave. Parental permission is needed for either of these opportunities.
The fall calendar, so far, looks like this:
Northeast Walks! information will be presented during morning announcements all next week.
October 1- 4th: Week of walking buses for students who are walking only.
October 5th – December 21st: Walking Wednesdays from Our Lady’s, Doty/Circle Streets and from the buses – participating students will receive a special walking item on the 5th.
Please complete a permission slip and send it in with your child by Tuesday, September 25th. Please feel free to contact me with questions or concerns. I can be reached at 781.314.5745 or at NadeneStein@k12.waltham.ma.us.
Wear our school colors - blue and yellow - on these days to show off your Northeast pride!
